Make sure that the IDE mode is not set to RAID? Had that issue with my current media center. Showed up fine on the installer, installed fine, "7B'd" when it would try to boot. Drove me nuts till dug through the terrible HP-nerfed BIOS to find the hard drive mode set to RAID. Worked fine after that.
