No, they were bought by Enermax a few years ago. But then Enermax hit some financial trouble before they could fully integrate the company, so they laid off most of the staff and liquidated their assets. Sad story, really.

Wow, that sucks. I would have loved to see some updated Imprevio built OCZ units, the Elitexstreams were great.

Hi guys!

I'm wondering about the quality and acoustics of the Corsair TX650 V2. Very few reviews of this PSU on the net, that is why I'm asking you guys to help me!

The PSU is for my future rig (in my sig) and I have planned to buy the Antec truepower new 650W. However, saw the Corsair, which is about 10€ cheaper. Should I go with the Antec, or should I buy the Corsair?

I appreciate silence and reliability/effiecieny.

Oh, and I'm not going to run sli/xfire (if that make a difference).

Thanks alot for your help!

Lets get back to the original problem in this thread:

There are very few reviews because the TX650 V2 is a very new PSU (it was released a few weeks ago... or something like that).
There is a review on the TX750 V2 model here. and it turned out to be an excellent power supply.
I have bought a TX650 V2 after my old one died and i can say it is a very good PSU. It is very silent. The voltages are rock solid even in load.

Ok, but what if, and when, I will OC both the CPU and the GPU. Is 500W enough then or sould I look at a 550W? Something like a Seasonic S12II-520 Bronze or a Antec High Current Gamer 520W? What do you think?

I have a power meter (i think its called kill-a-watt) and i measured the power consumption of my system (the sig rig) overclocked at 4,5 GHz with Prime 95 and Heaven benchmark running at the same time (so the cpu and gpu were at full load) and it just went up to 350-400W, so you will do just fine with a 500W PSU too. I chose the TX650 V2 because i want to buy a second video card for a sli configuration in the future, otherwise i would have bought a smaller PSU.
Allmost there...

Having RMA'd a dead TX650W, I received a replacement TX650V2 from Corsair. I have noticed that I'm getting a whirring noise from the PSU fan under all loads.

I have tried refitting the PSU back into the HAF 922 case (bottom fitting PSU) to rule out any vibration or something else but no luck.

I would be interested to know if others experience a similar sound with the TX V2 range or appreciate any ideas on minimising the noise.

If you look at the noise ratings for the original TX650 and the TX650 V2, it seems as though Corsair ramped up the fan speed in the V2, because it's rated for 24 dB at low loads, going up to 40dB at high loads. The original TX650's fan was rated for 21 dB at low loads, meaning it probably did not spin as quickly.

I've noticed this issue with my GS600 as well. I used to have a VX450, which was very quiet, but the GS is noticeably louder. Since the GS600 and TX650 V2 both use the same Yate Loon 140mm fan, I'm betting that the increase in noise is due to the fan ramping up in speed more quickly.

Interesting that the OCZ ModXStream was bought up. I had a 600w
die exactly a year after purchase. It spun all the fans, lit all LEDs, spun up HDD's and yet no picture. Eventually I took it back to the shop and they worked out the line feeding power to the PEG connectors is faulty. They wanted to RMA but I went for a seasonic s12ii 620w instead and paid the small difference.

LOL @ Track arguing with Phaedrus2129 about PSU's.

Track seems to be becoming one of the biggest trolls on OCN.

Back on topic though, I had a Corsair TX650 with my sig rig, but the fan made a hella annoying noise, a very high pitched squeak, if i stop the fan from spinning the noise stopped, so it was definitely the fan. Then I read up on Phaedrus2129's PSU articles post and returned the Corsair and got a Antec Truepower New, no annoying noises and seems better made smile.gif

+1 indeed

My TX650W has worked with a X6, 5850 and 2 9800GTX without issues.

The 650Wv2 is also a solid PSU as stated. I dont know anything about the whirring, but i know that every PSU can do that at high loads, disregarding the manufacturer.
