Help :( My p67 pro will not post if I put ram in either A_1 or A_2.

Currently I'm running my ram in single channel mode because I can not get the board to post at all if I populate slots A_1 or A_2. I've tried both with just one ram stick, and I've tried both with single channel configs A_1 and B_2 for instance and it will not post. The red LED ram light comes on and it just hangs.

I have tried manually setting my timings in the bios to no avail, I've tried several different bios version, my current version is the latest 1502. I have tired under volting, over volting, stupid high timings, stupid low speeds... I've pretty much tried everything. I've also tried using the Mem_OK feature, which also Mem_Fails.

The ram runs fine using B_1 and B_2, I have no issues posting when using those two dimm slots. This is the same ram I used on my UD4 which worked fine with my old i5-2500k/board, however my current board and cpu are both new and I can't confirm which is causing the problem.

An odd thing I've noticed is that CPU-Z/Maxx Mem will correctly read the speed, but not the timings.

Here is what I'm talking about:

My settings in bios are 8-9-8-24-1T 1.62v. There is no possible way this ram can run 6-6-6 at this speed. As you can also see the ram clearly isn't running dual channel as my speeds are nearly half what they should be.

I contacted ASUS about my RMA'ed AM2+ board thats been in RMA since November of 2010 and asked the guy about it and he told me to update my chipset drivers because they handle this sort of thing. At which point I said I'd call back later because I wasn't going to talk to a guy who thought Windows drivers in anyway, shape, or form affected the boards ability to post. I'm very leery about sending my board back which needs to be replaced anyways as its a B2 stepping board, but at this rate I may never see it again.

Anyone have any idea what could cause this, and if its a board or cpu issue?

I had this happen to my R3E... reseat CPU or loosen CPU cooler screws since the CPU is probably making too much contact or to little contact.

Might be a defective CPU aswell, but that is highly unlikely.

Now that I think about it the CPU was able to run Dual channel on a UD3 (Cause the guy I bought it from was running it dual channel)..

I shall try a cpu reseat again

No good, removed the waterblock and the cpu, reseated it but didn't screw in the block at all and it still won't push with anything in A_1 or A_2.

I tried it several times, sadness...
