Coil Whine

Has anyone got rid of coil whine on here. I have searched but never found anyone.

My Coil whine seems to be bad just with internet & vsync doesnt make any difference. Very frustrating. 2nd PSU this has been so dont think RMA'ing will do much.

And you're positive it's the PSU? GPUs have a higher tendency to produce whine.
If it is the PSU, one solution that may work is to cover the culprit coil with electrical tape, but obviously you'll need to open the PSU (thus voiding the warranty) in order to do that. So I don't really recommend it unless you're open to voiding the warranty.

Could try that on my old 650tx, already voided.
I read you can spray it with some acrylic stuff, I am no electrican tho so maybe best to leave that.

Its definitely the PSU whining yes. Corsair says it is probably caused by a component, the GPU I presume. I have read threads before where people have replaced everything & still it whines.

Its very frustrating not being able to remedy & knowing I am stuck no matter what.

I gave my old 650tx a coat of acrylic lacquer & still the same. Its fine until you turn on something like adobe flash on a website, is how I test then constant ringing.

Think only solution after changing mobo & PSU, changing the PCI express plugs on the GPU & running everything else on a separate PSU its down to the CPU.

Unless I change CPU & Mobo to a Intel dont think I am going to change it.
Apart from this whine my PC is virtually silent. What a bummer.

It's probably either your motherboard or GPU. In most cases, capacitor/coil whine is a legit case for an RMA (depends on the specific manufacturer though).

Its not the GPU or Mobo. Mobo is brand new upgrade & I swapped the PCI express leads with a 2nd PSU while testing & didnt change anything.

New motherboards and gpu's can still have cap/coil squeal. You haven't swapped the gpu yet--are you sure?

Did you try RMA'ing your PSU? Not sure how nice Corsair is about these things.

I messaged them & told them the situ. They told me it was a component. I will message them again soon tho & get an RMA from them, coz its driving me nuts.

Might end up having to buy a Intel i7 & mobo just to get some peace. Dont see no other options.

When does this happen? During certain games? Every video card and psu combo that I have owned in the past couple of years or so has had some coil whine in certain circumstances.

My old 280 GTX used to whine like crazy when working hard, moved over to an MSI 480 GTX, silence!
