BallaTheReared: you do realize there are other CPUs AMD has to offer besides the X6? The Phenom II X4 has the same gaming performance as the X6, but is significantly cheaper than Intel's leading quads. There's also the X2/X3 PII which is unlockable to a quad for ~$80-$100. Uh oh, Intel not so superior anymore.

Face it, SB is the king right now, and may be for quite some time if BD isn't all it's cracked up to be, but that doesn't mean it's the ONLY processor available.

BTW, who gives a testicle about a 12FPS increase in games when he's using a monitor that outputs a max of 60Hz and thus 60FPS v-synced? 20/30/3000 useless fps for the hassle of buying a new CPU and mobo? NOT worth it, especially since his current one is already running games as smoothly as possible.

As for encoding and rendering? Sure, SB is faster, but it still doesn't justify a new CPU, especially since his isn't that far behind in rendering and encoding.

OP, keep your current CPU, and wait for BD; if it's not up to snuff, buy a 2600K or an IB. Actually, invest in a better cooler and squeeze a couple more hundred MHz out of that 1055T - you're gonna want to anyways if you buy a better CPU.

I know this is Overclock.net, but you guys are taking 'overkill' to a new level.
Yea man, My new 22" Monitor is shipping right now. I'm not that stupid lol.

OP is doing it all wrong.

If hes fine in gaming with his AMD x6 but needs more encoding and editing power he needs Nvidia gpus as they offer acceleration in both those areas, not a i5-2500k which is only really going to help his gaming and two 6850s which are going to do nothing for editing or encoding.

I'm the troll? Where were you geniuses to tell him exactly what he needs to know like I tried to at the start? Get over bulldozer already wow... He doesn't even need a cpu upgrade.
You got it wrong. More Gpu for gaming, More cpu for encoding. If cpu helps gaming then its ok with me.

No disrespect dude but your listening to people who are either all for AMD or all for Intel.

Fact remains When I had a x6 CPU I was bottle necked by my crossfire setup. I5 sandy unlocked those bad boys for me. I am sure buldozer will be better than x6 for sure. However, I did not want to wait another 3 months to use the crossfire I already payed for.Bulldozer is untested and may or may not be good NOBODY knows. Why take the chance, why not go with something that is tried and tested?

Also believe me or not I am merely trying to help. AMD is great company Im lovin the 6950s in my rig they are beast. However, they do not own the market with CPUs for right now. It sucks I had to go to a competitor to get my cards to work but I am happy now.

Plus after bulldozer comes out no more upgrades for your AM3 boards you will have to buy a new one.

Me and my 1155 are good for ahwile...Just saying all IMO

It's well worth the wait.
He would have to buy a new motherboard anyways if he went SB...
I'd say 2500k or wait for BD but I would lean towards BD.
Even if BD is worse than SB, it will be priced accordingly.

OP also already stated he wasn't in a hurry.
No rush.

Good point, did not see the no rush part. I thought he said he already was gonna order those cards so I wanted to prevent a mistake.lol

Has he checked to see if his board is compatible? If it comes down to sandy and BD are equal, and you have to get a new board for either. Then thats the point I would push for sandy, however if your board is BD ready and your in no rush for those cards then heck ya wait it out.

I really hop bull dozer puts out some heavy numbers gaming wise it would be nice for amd to give Intel a step your game up mood.
