[TIME] 2045: The Year Man Becomes Immortal

On Feb. 15, 1965, a diffident but self-possessed high school student named Raymond Kurzweil appeared as a guest on a game show called I've Got a Secret. He was introduced by the host, Steve Allen, then he played a short musical composition on a piano. The idea was that Kurzweil was hiding an unusual fact and the panelists — they included a comedian and a former Miss America — had to guess what it was.

It's a 5 page article Take your time. Fascinating. I'm just starting to learn the basics of AI.

A month and a half. The interesting part is Kurzweil puts 2045 as his date, and he's been fairly accurate in the past. He's big with the top technology folk.

Why is it always 30 years out?

Hurry up and assimilate me please. Resistance is counterproductive.

When someone finally explains what life/death is in the scientific world, I'll start paying attention to this type of stuff.

Pay attention now. The idea is that once we create a machine that is vastly superior in intelligence to us, it'll be the last thing man creates. The computer will then invent it's own upgrades and will, if asked to (I guess) augment us artificially so that we live longer. Who needs to explain death when a computer can work that out for us and stop us from dying?

Uhhh wut.

Death is when your brain shuts down. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Your thoughts will be similiar to what they were before you ever existed = NONE. You and your thoughts will cease to exist.
