ECS IC780M-A2 (V1.0A) AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard It comes out to $45 After Rebates but if you can't be bothered then the original MSI is probably a better choice cause it's the same price anyways.

Probably, but the problem I have is that I've plenty of ECS DOAs before, enough so I don't feel comfortable recommending them to anyone else. The ones that do work, work wonderfully, but their QC leaves something to be desired as I've more DOAs from ECS than MSI.

I know it's socket 775, but I really like this combo as a base. Overclock the E5700 to 3.4GHz and pick up 2GB of G-Skill memory (you really, really don't need 4GB) and you have at least a quality base. Stay away from the ECS-branded boards.

That's only $152 for mobo, CPU, video, and memory.

caz you have a microcenter nearby? That helps alot with their AMD chip+free mobos deal. If you need an OS then i would suggest prebuilt, otherwise a Phenom II x4 840 plus mobo of choice for $100 would be a good start.

corsair cx430 for $ 25 AFTER MIR

4gb DDR3 1600 Hyper x blu for 35 after MIR

500gb samsung f3 $50 (could do better here probably)

20$ LG Black SATA DVD-R drive shipped with promo code

Rosewill Destroyer with black interior and 3 120mm fans $55 (The new rosewill cases are very nice for the money)

$285

Ive been pricing an extreme budget build like this for awhile now

It gets better. But OP has to deal with MIR's and it requires he be close to a microcenter.

Ok so just to clear a couple things up, the 4 GB of RAM is needed b/c these ppl NEVER exit out windows properly.

I think everyone is right, a SOLID Dual-Core chip should be fine, if I can find a deal on a quad-core, so be it.

Onboard Graphics seems to be the way to go.

With that being said I will go through the above posts and find a build that will be perfect.

@LuckySe7ens, I do have a Microcenter nearby.
