Steam problems - Page 2

Just running it for the few hours I did, I got numerous errors crashing steam and even sometimes my computer. I have a amd 955 quad, and just running this crappy program loads each core to 50% or more while in a lobby. If they put the mass amounts of money into updating their platform and servers and they would have a much bigger fan base of online games that use steam.

I had heard some good things about steam, but my personal experience on multiplayer onlone games with it basically put an end to it for me.
You've got something weird going on with your system. Steam has a pretty small foot print and wouldn't cause any of those problems. It's a user error situation. You either have a virus or an unstable system. Black Ops isn't the best coded game though. You might just have a problem with it. Couldn't really tell from your post.

I wasn't sure about steam and didn't like it when it first came out, I was used to Won authentication when connecting to servers and was used to my Won ID etc.

It ran like a bag of slugs at first admittedly. And at first I only trusted it with the games it forced me to trust (my HL/HL2/CS etc)
Now I have built up a healthy library of games and I much prefer gaming from steam. I hate having CD's/DVD's all over the place.

Oh and the steam sales are addictive, even if you don't want to buy it you just can't resist the offers on most games.
The friends/community tab has improved alot too and now you can host screenshots.

steam is pure uncut win.

Yeah I guess from what people are saying it's a bad game for pc, but if it's so bad why ould steam sponser it on their platform. Makes steam look bad.

As others have said, you must be doing something wrong. I'm downloading the Bulletstorm demo on Steam right now and it isn't even using 1% of my CPU.

Steam doesn't sponsor games. They get % of the price of the game.

Its CoD. People buy CoD games for its name = high sales = more money for Steam.
+
If people have to use it, then they might notice a game on sale in Steam store and buy = more money for steam.

All business.

Well call of duty black ops on the pc is a resource hungry game, over 1gb of ram and 40-50% cpu usage along all cores.

The same reason Amazon, Gamestop, or Walmart does. They are a retail outlet.
