My New Dell U3011 30" IPS LCD (Tons of Pics) - Page 2

www.wallbase.net Get to it...stretched wallpapers hurt my eyes...especially on a beautiful display like that.

EDIT: I'm not sure I could sit that close to a 30" display. I wish you all the best but I think the largest I'd go would be a 25" at that distance.

A couple months ago I was all against everything Apple too. The thing that got me started was the wired aluminum keyboard. I then got looking at the MacBook Airs because of their aluminum chassis, booting in 15 seconds, and super thin profile. I am by no means an Apple fanboy. Just some of their products I really like and fits my needs. Given their price they are definitely not for everyone but if you want to try out an Apple product the $50 wired aluminum keyboard isn't a bad place to start.

I know what you mean though trying to describe how massive it is. Biggest screens I had used were 22" then I got my 28". The box itself wasn't quite as large as yours but still huge. Then when I took it out, my mouth was pretty much just hanging open for a while. Absolutely massive. I'm sure you will love it. Probably the only bad thing about those screens is that it takes a lot of gpu grunt to play any newer games with decent settings lol. Massive resolution

Congrats on that beauty.
I know right, plus you really have to see it in person to realize how massive it is, though the side by side picture gives you somewhat of an idea. Some would count that as a positive, LOL, excuse to upgrade = win. I get what you're saying though. My 6850 will probably struggle in a lot of games.

We ordered a couple 16:10 27" LCD's for work and they didn't look much bigger online compared to 22"-23" in the same photo but when we got them, boom they are quite nice and dwarf the smaller ones.

30" must be nice, enjoy and congratz.
So true, thanks so much I will enjoy it for sure.

I'll get on that soon.

Well it is a refurb but it's probably more of just the flash over exaggerating the streaks and smears.

Nah fair play mate. If the keyboard is to your liking, why not?

I'd buy a hello kitty keyboard if it had sweet mech keys and a nice stroke tbh.

If it makes you feel any better you could have bought about five VE247H's with the money it took for me to buy one U3011.

Does it play video?

I have a 25" monitor in my room and it is entirely too big sitting in front of it like you would a regular PC. I can't imagine how huge this thing is. You'd have to sit 5-feet from it to view it properly!

Take a look at some of Lenovo's offerings. The style may not be to your liking, but their laptops are just as rugged (if not moreso) than the aluminum unibody. They have fastboot too!

My 23" Dell IPS comes in tomorrow. This makes me more excited .

So far it's working pretty good. I don't feel like I'm sitting too close. Most of the time it will be used for reading text on a web site, writing documents, and so on. I've haven't fired up a game or video yet.

I agree Lenovo makes some great products. I've seen some of their laptops with those really nice chiclet keyboards and they're awesome. Though some their products look just plain hideous and are too boxy. Rugged isn't really what I was looking for. It's more the feel of quality and sturdiness that the aluminum offers, as well as it looking just plain awesome. Don't be too hard on me as this is my first Apple computer, I'm still a die hard PC and Windows guy, no worries. I have no regrets, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

"The thing that got me started was the wired aluminum keyboard." This is the best keyboard ever made. It great for big hands, great for gaming, waterproof etc. I have had mine for over three years.

Congrats on your new display. All my 30 inch displays are Dell refurbs. You will not regret it.
