Das Keyboard review by srsparky32 - Page 2

I don't mean to hijack but I am currently looking for a mech keyboard. My local NCIX is selling the das professional silent for about $120 taxes in, while they are selling the G6V2 for $90, and the Black Widow for the same price.

I game significantly on my PC as do I type. Which would be the best purchase?

the Das has the blues (or browns depending on which you get) and those are right behind the blacks for gaming.

honestly, typing on this, i can tell you right now that the das is a great typists keyboard as well as a great gaming keyboard

I dont know if I can justify the price increase. the Steelseries G6v2 uses brown switches as does the DAS professional silent.

Blues are hands down one of the worst switches you can buy for gaming, period. They are not right behind the blacks . I think you'd have to get into poorly made alps clones to find a worse one.

Call me crazy but I am enjoying using blues for FPS gaming, they're more responsive compared to my rubber dome keyboards. I can even bunnyhop better with this keyboard.

Uber, if you want a Das hunt down a student discount, it dropped my Das total from 130 to 103 USD. You might be able to dig one up on geekhack or one of the members around here.

Congrats! Looks great, glad you're enjoying it.

Actually, the SS G6v2 comes equipped with Cherry MX Black switches, not Brown.

For reference, I type more than I game. With that in mind...

Personally, I didn't care for Blacks that much, and while I love Blues very much for typing, Browns are my overall pick for the moment. They are slightly lighter feeling than Blues and are a bit quieter because they lack the audible click. Many might suggest that the Browns are a nice place to start if you're not entirely sure which switch to get.

SS G6v2: Black. Heavier switch, linear, I didn't enjoy typing on it (some others love it.)
Das: Can choose Blue or Brown, I like both of these switches very much.
Razer BlackWidow: Blue, not a bad board at all for the price though many dislike this switch for gaming. Blues are typically thought of as a typists type of switch.

If it's something you can take advantage of, Das offers a 24% student discount bringing their boards to ~$100 w/ free shipping to ConUS.

Good luck in choosing a board!

I have a Das with blue switches and feels amazing when typing. As far as gaming, it feels a bit awkward due to the clicks, but I've gotten used to it. Brown switches would be more of a "best of both worlds" in terms of typing and gaming.

Leopold at Elitekeyboards. A lot cheaper than the OCN Ducky. Browns is always the safest choice, if a bit boring. I can game fine on Blues as can most people.
