I think low quality headphones or speakers are a more pertinent limiting factor for most people.

You'd be surprised how many people got convinced to buy a half decent pair of headphones instead of a terrible gaming headset, but keep their onboard sound cards.

Anyway, a lot of my friends wonder how I can type on a keyboard that doesn't have any lettering on it and they don't get that I just know where the keys are. You'd be surprised at how many people who would normally try to use my computer (at a LAN or something) and turn away because they can't type on my keyboard as they normally just hunt and peck their way around. I love the feel of each key as it moves through its motions as well. You hit the nail on the head saying that typing on rubber domes is a chore. I'm a TA for an Intro to Computer Science course at my University and all the computers in the labs use the standard Dell rubber domes; they are literally the worst keyboards I've ever used - the key action is way too mushy and completely lacks any response of any kind.

tl;dr - everyone should own a Das Keyboard Ultimate S because it just looks cool
I feel left out, I only got a professional.
Now I kinda wish I got an Ultimate. The only reason I went for the professional is because I don't know all the buttons on the numbers on the top of the keyboard. Otherwise, I don't ever look at the keyboard. But this thing is so awesome, I don't even know how to describe it. I agree with you 100%; typing on this thing is a treat.

I got the professional s, and I must say, it is awesome, but coming off the blues and trying clears, it's a tad boring, but that's okay, cause it's not fatiguing at all.

I kinda wish I got the ultimate now, because even though i really like the professional's font, the WASD, as well as some of the keys near the WASD cluster are wearing away.

just got the Das Keyboard Professional S Silent.. its still pretty friggin loud. im getting use to all the keys, but its significantly smaller than my stock keyboard. In the end was it worth the purchase? meh. mech keyboards are kinda over rated for the price.
