Streaming Wirelessly On PS3 Slim

Thread Starter
Have a question for you guys. I'm currently using a wired connection on my PS3 slim and all we do is stream videos from my computer. I'm wanting to buy another TV and move the PS3 to the bedroom... Just wondering if u can still stream videos wirelessly.
Yea I do it all the time. The sharing of the files shouldn't matter if its wired or wireless. Just make sure you get a good signal.

While this may not be a great comparison but I stream movies all the time, up to 720p from PS3 Media Server over wireless.

So why is it not a great comparison you ask? Because the ps3 and wireless router are only about a foot apart, too bad there is a wall in the way. I can't drill through the wall because it is an apartment, it would take about 100ft of Ethernet cable going RIGHT through my living room to get it wired, so that is why it is wireless.

Long and the short of it, as long as the single is good you should be fine.

Yes, you can. However I believe that has some file type limitations that you might run into.

I cannot go into more detail because I do not know, I always just found it easier to use PS3MS

I see. I know just using Windows Media Player sharing will only let you stream avi files for the most part. HD mkv's cannot be streamed..

I stream without a problem wirelessly. The only problem I encounter is that my router is upstairs in my room, and when I take my PS3 down to the basement (3 floors down on a back split house), I can usually stream not too bad, sometimes it can get lagged here and there.

A repeater would easily fix this problem though.

Also, I'd suggest TVersity, I've used a bunch of them, and TVersity is just awesome. It'll transcode files on the fly for you aswell.

Yes you can, but I find that my if I do it drop out more often then works.

You can try to a Netgear POWERLINE AV 500 ADAPTER XAV5004, see link

http://www.netgear.com/home/products...e/XAV5004.aspx

I use one for my and it work well for the most part. and is way better the wirelessly as I don't get drop out.

I like wirelessly but the pain was worth it for me.
