Plenty of games and companies etc use the Shareware, or If you like this, support me approach and do fine. How exactly do developers who create products for free and provide them for no cost, if everyone simply gets it for free, according to you, no one would pay, but they do pay. Anyone see the humble bundle.

Nothing makes Piracy ok. Thats pretty easy to understand.
You've already made the point that piracy != sale. And we all agree with you. So why do you keep stating it?

And if nothing makes piracy ok, then why the heck have you been advocating for it so strongly the last umpteen pages of this thread?

You're just trying to sidetrack everyone's attention from the fact that developers and publishers aren't developing/publishing games for the PC because of piracy.

Does that matter? We would have MORE games if it wasn't for piracy.

Just as a quiet diversion. If in fact PC's were winning. Wouldn't games be developed for PC, then ported to consoles?

Honestly, I wish it were that way.

The piracy thing is a farce. Games are selling well on PC's and Devs don't want to put in the extra effort. Brick and motor sales have deminished because stores like Gamestop refused to trade PC games in for newer ones because of DRM. Why even bother with them then? Exactly. PC sales are higher than ever right now online and nobody wants to admit it or develope for it or try to market it because for some reason it is "boo hoo" bad to be innovative for the PC side of the gaming industry. Hopefully that will change soon. Its increasingly easier and more cost efficient to get better performance from a PC than to buy an outdated console. Lets face it, PC's these days are like legos. There are plenty of kids that can put legos together.

Stagnant industry is stagnant.

HIstory repeats itself people, i don't know why any of you are surprised.

We are ending another console lifecycle or coming to the inbetween time as interest shifts.

It's just the trend of Console Lifecycles and hardware/graphics inbetween time that PC picks up again and gains momentum ( sometimes lasting quite a bit depending on the games and situations)

PC will pick up for a while, level out, drop down, level at bottom, pick up again...

People act as if these things OMG *** BBQ~~! have never happened before ?!

I must of missed it...when was war declared ?

PC gaming has always offered it users a better experience than a console....seems to me that there is not an argument here and nothing to fight about.

Except several developers/publishers stated they are not developing for the PC because of piracy...

BTW, what's your source/proof for saying that devs just "don't want to put in the extra effort"?

Maybe they don't want to put in the extra effort because 15 out of 16 people will just pirate their extra efforts instead of actually supporting them with a sale.

I agree that the impact of piracy is exaggerated in most cases and lobbyist and lawmakers in the US tend to forget that US-based piracy accounts for like 10%-15%, so you could be uber-draconian with the US laws and that still won't affect China, India and Brazil.

However, even with PC sales being at an all-time high, piracy still affects it. Crysis 2 didn't directly copy Crysis 1 b/c of the insanely high pirating. Lots of game makers aren't taking chances ( in game design, game concepts, etc ) b/c of piracy.

What I'd be curious to see is how much of the 'record setting' that the COD series and WoW have to do with it.
