That's another reason why I'm going to try it on top first. Push is usually better than pull with a fan in any circumstance but I think pulling from above will do just fine in this case. Some active airflow, no matter how little, is lots better than simple passive convection.
Once my warranty is void I look forward to opening this baby up and plastering the inside with all my spare graphics card RAM heat sinks and VRM coolers I've collected over the years.
I'm simply amazed that there aren't a few simple heat pipes inside modern receivers. It's not like it would drive the cost up that much...
