Ok...that is really cool, except for the "mouse". That looks like a pain in the posterior. I'll prolly retire my G7 to the htpc when (if?) I find something better (and still wireless) to replace it with.

My experience with using my Droid HTC Incredible as a remote with my HTPC hasn't been all that great. The app force closes constantly and most recently I haven't been able to connect using the program.
Edit: I've used RemoteDroid only can't comment on the other.

Yes, I actually tried the xbmc app for the galaxy tablet. I haven't had extensive use with it but it was just a quick demo and it was nice. The max I would actually spend on a tablet would be $200 since it would only be used for that function, other then that I have no real use for a tablet.

Umm you just resurrected a very dead thread lol it's from april of last year. I have my phone set up to control xbmc over the wifi plus the music is shared over a upnp network so I can view everything from everywhere in my house.
