Im curious?? How would you not tell a difference with a $200 + sound card over onboard? I mean at least a huge increase in volume and quality would be expected? Right?

I can connect via analogue to my Z5500 an still get full res blu ray audio

Iam gonna sell my X-fi Titanium. Its working perfect. Make me an offer.
If you care about the sound that your new soundcard will produce, you should get better speakers. It's kinda like having a bluray player and and old black and white tv as an output device.

I thought people LIKED the Z-5500s? I got mine for $199, I can't imagine finding better for the price for a bedroom (i.e: very near field). I know I'd end up paying more for the receiver alone. They're seriously not THAT bad. They're not great, but I have my higher-end headphones for that anyway. My biggest beef with them is the lack of HDMI for DD+ or DTS-HD/MA.

This card circumvents that by connecting via analogue u will still get full res DTSHD Master Audio.

Next on my buy list is a 2600K, Asus Maximus IV Extreme, Vertex 3, and another brand new powder-coated ATCS 840

Sad-face is his signature.

Made of quality? How much does quality cost and where can I buy that stuff.

As for Z-5500. Time to upgrade, son. You're making me sad.

Even with an htpc it doesn't make sense...you can get a cheap ati card that will do bitstream hd audio just fine

And unless I'm missing something this will not do HD audio formats except through the hdmi output.
