Radioshack CM Hyper 212+? Need filler...advice please =) on cooling. K62 with Hyper?

Hey OCN,

I know it's not the cheapest place to buy the hyper 212+ but I have a gift card and if I buy 40+ I could get $10 off. So, the price of the hyper 212+ on this website is $30 so I need a $10 item to make it up to $40...

So, I was wondering, are any of these items worth it?
Here's the cooling section:
http://www.radioshack.com/family/ind...goryId=2063071
and here's the hyper:
http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...e=CoolerMaster

Should I get this Zalman ZMSTG1 Super Thermal Grease?:
http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2436169
or Antec® Formula 5 Silver Thermal Compound:
http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2295069

Doesn't matter what the filler is, just looking for something to spend the coupon on because RS is just so overpriced on every single item... For the hyper 212+, to get the push pull I would need another 120mm right?
Would this work?
Zalman (ZM-F3) 120mm Quiet PC Case Fan
http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2454976

Thanks, any suggestions would be greatly helpful.

Or if any would recommend a better cooler I should go for please mention it. I'm trying to get a i5-2500k up to maybe 5ghz or 4.8ghz or the minimum 4.5ghz.

Also, a hyper 212+ will fit in a Lancool k62 case right?

Last question actually, how often should I change the thermal paste between the CPU and the Heatsink?

Thanks!

Well every time you take the cooler you need to reapply it [can't use the old one]...and CM Hyper 212+ is the best cooler for the money...later on you can add another fan to drop the temps by few degrees...212+ is definitely best bang for the buck out there!

So, in the end, I wouldn't really need the thermal paste right? I mean, I doubt I would be removing the cooler once I place it on. Should I get the zalman 120mm fan? Haven't heard of Zalman recently but IDK, kind of new to computer building.

Do not replace the thermal paste on the 212+

It is already much better than anything you can buy at radioshack

I'd suggest the AS5 thermal grease and another fan if possible. I have the CM 212+ and it really works tons better push/pull.

But definately the AS5. Its the jism.

It's really not. It was maybe 5 years ago, but not now

The paste that comes with 212+ is made by shinetsu and definitely better

Grab a cheap soldering iron or multimeter

So, I should just go with the Zalman ZM-F3? Would it work with the Hyper 212+?

Haha, I kind of need just one $10 item. The thermal grease that comes with it works pretty well I assume right? Did the push/pull decrease the temps?

Gahh, RS is such a big rip off haha. But I got the gift card for 20% off its card amount so its all good.
