Yes

But can't you run the big advanced units on your proc?

Seems like big advanced + one gpu client would be the best set up for you.

I suppose lol. I'm totally new to folding and only understand the very basics. I jumped in because of the new client release that actually worked for ATI cards. I'll look into running -bigadv and compare my results.

For now try using prifinitty to lock down the clients to specific cores.
I'm assuming your clients are just running helter skelter across all 6 cores.

That's awesome! I've never heard of it. I'll be installing that when I get home, thanks Grunion

And what I've found, it's about a 2k increase for me compared to 1 client each.
The cpu overhead is killing it IMO, I'm thinking the the 2600k with hyperthreading would be more suited.

My 2500k is completely maxed, TPF is ~5min for all 4 clients.

You guys that have > 4cores or hyperthreading, how's it working out for you?
Using exactly 4 cores. Other two are almost being used too though for other stuff like WMP ect. Running at around 92% CPU usage.

Anyone know how to set the folding cores to High priority by default?

You have to use something like prifinitty, there's also another prog but I don't remember the name.

Setting it via task manger only works until the unit is complete, then it reverts back to default at the start of a new unit.

I completed 4 of those earlier today. My PPD was right about where yours is too.

So will this work for my 6870? Someone should do a walk through for this because I am confused
post #50 of 52
figured out my problem , i just didnt put the right gpu id in to the clients.

now that i run 2 clients however , i get 10 K with one client , and around 5 K on each with two , so i basicly dont gain anything , and every gpu client hogs up one "core" of my cpu , so its good in that aspect either.
