I have a problem. I am using a r 5770 msi card at the moment. it started artifacting on the 50 plasma sitting next to it. i was thinking of taking the card back since only owned it for like 10 days. if i take it back ill gvbet about $130 towards new card. seen that frys has EVGA GTX 550 Ti SC 1GB at $170.00. would any one recommend me buying this? if not any one got an idea on the best card for the money at less than $200.00.

A GTX550 Ti is slightly faster than a HD5770 but not by a whole lot. At $170 that is way too overpriced for a GTX550 Ti. I'd get a HD6850 personally, it's a great bang for the buck card, and faster than both the GTX550 Ti and HD5770. Another option is that you could go for the faster HD6870, and still stay under your $200 budget, with rebates at least. It just depends how close to your budget you want to get.

I see you have the hd6850, does the card over clock well? it says it has a dvi-d and dvi-i connector? whats the diffrence with that. i will be hooking it up to a 23 monitor and a 50 inch tv via the dvi ports so kinda need to know if there is a big diffrence. thanks

Don't get the 550; get a 460 or a 6850.

I haven't had much time to mess with it. I bought it open box from Newegg and have had problems with it causing my computer to crash in games. This is not the HD6850's fault, it's just silly Newegg didn't test it enough. I'm going to RMA it to Asus when I have time. I'm currently running my previous card, a HD4850.

From what I've read I think DVI-D is dual-link and DVI-I is single-link: link. Dual-link DVI can basically transmit higher resolutions like 2560x1600 but single-link DVI is limited to around 1920x1200: link.

Well I had an MSI HD6850 along with this Asus HD6850 for a short time to try out Crossfire, but I later sold the MSI on here. The MSI was actually a really sweet overclocker, it did about 925MHz on the core with stock volts and 4700MHz on the memory (up from the stock clocks of 775MHz/4000MHz). So that's 150MHz extra on the core or ~20% OC, and 700MHz on the memory or 17.5% OC. Now how each card overclocks will of course vary but I hopes that helps you some at least. You can see my attached 3DMark Vantage run with the OC.
