At what voltage?

Currently I'm 920/1375 (haven't touched the memory clock) at 1.175v (6970 stock). I tried 950 on the core but the driver crashed during Crysis 2.

^^When my cards were on air, 930 was my limit. When I switched to water, 960ish was the limit on the same volts.

My cards are using 6970 bios defaults volt wise.. I've pushed them higher but imo it's not worth it longterm.

it would make sense to flash to a 6970 if the powertune features would adjust the 6950 to become like a 6970.

the early indications show that the powertune chip is separate from the bios and is set at the factory. look towards the middle where it talks about power consumption.
http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/...ng/vidcard/159

for the most part, you can hit 6970 core speeds at lower 1.175 volts that comes stock with the 6970. But when you flash to a 6970 bios, you don't get voltage control with msi ab (or so what I've read).

and really, with software voltage control and overclocking, there is no point in even flashing to full 6970. to go 1 step further, if they introduce software unlocking, there is no point in even flashing to an unlocked shader bios.

^^I'm not sure what you're saying? 6970 bios gets you to 950/1450 max oc in CCC while maintaining powerplay and ulps. AB doesn't support 6970 bios cuz the guy didn't write the support in there, but you can add it in if you know what to do. Also AB doesn't play nice with powertune, besides upls and pp.

Regardless, if your card can run 950/1450, 6970 bios is the best because you get to keep all the functionality of a regular 6970. Basically, if you don't want to muck around with AB, this is the way to go.

Read that guide, especially about the 0000, etc etc.

http://www.overclock.net/attachments...nly-oc.reg.txt

Here's my cfx reg file, remove the txt after you edit to fit your card config, ie. the 0000, etc etc part. Single cards should only be 0000 so you can just delete the 0001 half.

go here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Con tro l\\Class\\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\\0000

you have more folders maybe like 0001, 0002 and so on.

make a new entry and name it PP_PhmSoftPowerPlayTable

put this in there:
