EK Supreme o-ring (Beware of EK) - Page 2

Thread Starter
This is what EK wrote to me:

"Hello,

I m sorry to hear that, but all blocks are leak tested.
Since you opened it you voided warranty.
You should have reported this prior to opening it.

Best regards,"

I'll try to write a review about this block which is the first time ever in 6 years of water cooling that I had to deal with a leak or anything of this sort. Right now I don't really trust the EK brand. These "extra" blades they include are literally useless since once opened it voids the warranty, there no extra parts yet this block does not come cheap. In my opinion if I could go back I would not buy EK.

Now I need to find that famous o-ring since without it this block is plain and simple useless, just like the warranty, just like the blades, just like dealing with EK

You have to be careful opening blocks so you don't cut the o-ring. I don't see how any of this is EK's fault other than the way they handled an rma... which you weren't really asking for correct? Cuz it sounds like that from EK's email. You did order more rings no? Why won't they sell you some o-rings?

To be fair, this all could have been avoided if you didn't use the colored coolant. It's no secret that it gunks up loops and blocks. EK specifically states not to use this crap.

As for EK, I don't agree with the voiding the warranty bit especially since they do include extra parts, however, if they void your warranty because you used that coolant, that's another matter.

If you DO a review, it's not going to be an honest review, but rather, biased because of your experience with EK, which again, could have been avoided if you didn't use that Feser crap in your loop. No one is going to take your review seriously.

OP no one uses a proprietary o-ring, they are all common size, try to find a Hydraulic supply store near you, they should be able to size your o-ring even with it broken

it would be nice if the block makers would include the o-ring size with the install directions

No EK is not a brand I would trust from now on. Unfortunetly it might be my fault but I've had my share of experiences in the past 6 years none comes even close to this one. I was hoping a better resolution from EK however I was put down.

Thank god for places like Performance-PC, I just ordered some pure silver from them and they included free o-rings to my order!

EK rating 4/10, the +4 was given for the nice packaging the -6 for whats included in it and service

Did you also use any anti-bacterial additive like PKNuke w/Feser? That will compound the problem adding more "gunk"...especially if you use a lot of it. The EK Supreme is a GREAT waterblock...but since the flow goes through smaller pathways than others it's primed to get clogged faster. Distilled water w/UV blue tubes baby...that looks as good as blue Feser.

EK make some of the best watercooling components available. It is not their fault you used coloured coolant, nor is it their fault you broke an O Ring. Granted, that email from them was a bit confusing as they include those interchangable blades, but there is nothing wrong with the product itself. Please do not leave biased ratings such as that on the forums.

I am entitled just like you are for rating and giving my opinion. I did state that this was my fault but given the price of an EK block I was assuming a little more from their side of the deal.

I am just letting others know of my experience and how I am dealing with it. I am not the only one that had issues with this "famous" o-ring and EK is well aware of that and yet no extra o-rings are supplied. In fact I would rather see o-rings then these useless blades that void your waranty anyway. But that is just my opinion...

This o-ring is a PITA and many know it no matter how good this block is.
