Id still get 2GB version, its a couple bucks more and enables to run some games that require that Vram..
Who knows might come out... If you plan to texture mod some games, that VRAM helps...

No problem. I hope it helps people decide.

My decision on going with the 1GB model was due to the fact I will not be running a resolution over 1080, I wanted an aftermarket cooler that would cool pretty well and not be near as loud as the reference model. My 4890 was a reference model and with the fan set to 40% it was louder than the new 6950's fan set to 100%, also I read too many stories about the 2GB version getting bricked by trying to unlock it.

They OC really well, and I say definitely get a 2GB model, if the game gods keep up with the tech, it will be used by more than GTA4 (thats the only game I know of that shows the VRAM usage, and it needs it.)

I dunno, doing it over again I'd still get the 2GB version. Being able to unlock to their flagship is awesome.

The reference fan stinks though. That sucker is loud.

Thread Starter
Thanks everyone who chimed in. I just placed the order at 1:30 eastern time. So today should count as a shipping day...and it said two day delivery so maybe I'll get it tomorrow? (wishful thinking.)

I'll probably get it Monday. Thanks everyone!

Link to card I ordered.

Awesome! Congrats on the card. You should check out the 69xx owner's club here and if you're having any issues a bunch of 69xx user's generally chime right in!

A warning about xfx non-reference cards... I have noticed that with XFX they like to go the cheap route and skimp out on some of the parts and go with a lower quality parts. If I were you I would go with gigabyte or ASUS... I have owned a ref 5870 from XFX for over a year now with no problems, but that because they didn't assemble it, where a buddy of mine got a non-ref model and had heating issues pretty much the same week.
