Got a question for anyone in usa, im going there for a few months soon but obviously want to bring my phone, only carriers over there that use sim are t-mobile and at&t which are merging.

Question is since t-mobile uses 3g/hspda frequency of 2100mhz, if i put a sim card in my phone would it beable to use 3g?

thanks chris

I doubt you have to worry about the merger any time soon.
With that said, to use 3G here in the states on your phone from the UK. You will need to use the T-Mobile network. You're able to buy some prepaid plan phones and use the SIM card from them. They don't offer it the way you guys do over on that side of the pond where you buy the SIM and use whatever and pay that.

yea i noticed that, is there not any pay and go type of service like, only really need data and it really doesnt even need to be 3g, could use 2g for some stuff.

Aint there not like even 500mb data only plan for $15, or some type of package for $15 and get 500mb etc?

There is PrePaid SIM cards, check the website here.

It seems that they do have a WebConnect SIM card. I'm assuming you could just go to a T-Mobile store and pick one up. Not sure if you could pick one up at a local convince store. But you might.

Seen the web connect sim deal for $6.99, then presumably you have to buy a package for access to the net, but its says $30 for 300mb, seems pretty dear, are at&t any better?

It doesn't offer anything like that unfortunately. Nothing for just data. They do sell prepaid phones, but not prepaid SIMs.

Mobile data is expensive in the US, especially prepaid. Of course it wasn't long ago that prepaid mobile data wasn't available at all. The prices are slowly coming down as time passes, though.
