Noob pc build: Please help

Thread Starter
I was hoping some computer building pros might be able to help me out with my first build. I have aproximately $1500 to spend on a gaming pc. I have checked out Alienware and Cyberpowerpc but I figured I will save a lot of money and get an overall better pc (Plus my mother works at a college to I can get my OS and MS Office for free tehe). So if anyone could help make suggestions for better deals and components or tell me if they are incompatible it would be greatly appreciated. This is what I am looking at getting:

CASE: Corsair Obsidian 800d
PSU: Corsair 850tx V2
CPU: Intel Core i7 2600k (3.4ghz turboboost up to 3.6ghz)
MOBO: Asus P67 Sabertooth Lga-1155
RAM: Corsair Vengance 8gb (2x4gb)
GPU: Nvidia EVGA GTX460 1gb Superclocked, External Exaust
STORAGE: WD 2tb Caviar Green 3.0gb/s
COOLING: Corsair H50 liquid cooling + 3 120mm CoolerMaster fans mounter on top of case for exaust
DISPLAY: Flatron LG 23" W2343T-PF 1920x1080

I will also be buying some LEDs to put in... I'm going with a green theme

Also I will be purchasing this in like August so will the prices of these components decrease by then? Thanks in advance!!

You might come back some weeks before your purchase date because there is simply too much that can happen until then, AMD bulldozer will probably have been released and the new 7000 serie radeons might not be far from august (september maybe ?) either as it's going now... new PSUs and deals might come up and other nice hardware, we never know...

But as far as your build is right now, I don't see any problem except the GPU, might as well go with an i5 2500k and step up to a 6950/6970 or GTX570 (these are real beasts). The i5 won't bottleneck your GPU and some more graphic horsepower never hurt, especially if you plan to push the details of your games to the max...

Not to be a jerk but threads like this are pointless when you're aren't going to be buying for another 4 to 5 months.

do NOT go w/ cyberpower. trust me on this one..i have personal experience on exactly HOW BAD one company can fail, if something goes wrong.

also, how often a company CAN get it wrong.

..oh, and also, how many phone calls it's possible to get, from owners of said company, attempting to persuade you not to file formal complaints against them with the relevant consumer advocacy watchdog-groups.

seriously, i have hours of recorded conversations with these morons.

Damn I wish time went by faster. But, on the otherhand your right. New deals will come up... I actually do plan on uprgrading my gpu soon after purchase (within a few months). I PLAN on getting another gtx460 (same card) to put in sli... And I plan on sticking with nvidia because I like the idea of 3d and I will have a lot of money to spend next summer (haha btw I plan ahead a bit too much sometimes)

No problem, I did the same and got the same kind of replies, but yeah, they were right about new hardware being launched... And might I suggest you to buy the most powerful single GPU you can afford BEFORE thinking about SLI ?

If I were you, I'd do that since SLI is often a lot of hassle. A 570 with a nice overclock might give you a bit less GPU power but will also be less trouble for you... less heat, no scaling problems in less "popular" titles, less noise, etc etc...

Yea. I'll shop arround at the time of purchase. The reason I thought to do sli was that I could get a lower end card now and then with money that I will have later, get another card. Really I'm not exactly sure how much money I will have to spend so, possibly, I could get a different card but it will have to be a Nvidia. You guys help a lot (first thread) and I'm suprised by the rapid response!
