[Joystiq]Class action suit filed against EA Sports over football monopoly

The case "Pecover V. Electronic Arts, Inc." claims that EA's exclusive licenses "foreclosed competition in an alleged football video game market." Because of this lack of competition, the plaintiffs in the case claim that this monopoly allowed EA to overcharge for its games (even though EA Sports games cost the same as most other mass-market console games).

Hopefully I did this right, my first news thread.
I just got a email about the suit, which is what made me look it up.

I wish some good comes out of it, getting tired of EA football.

Hell yeah class action suit (to be politically correct ). I always hated Madden, but I loved the last NFL 2K game that came out (I think it was 2K4).

It was 2k5. EA's monopoly has made Madden so crap. Dramatically improved over the last two years but really, it could easily be so much more (see NBA 2K11, the most complete sports game on the market).

So how are they going to track if you bought the game or not between that time period? did you save your recipt from the game you bought 4 years ago that you traded in for $1?

NBA 2k11 game of the year IMO. I loved how they incorporated all of MJ's shoes and jumpman's.

By complete, you mean most features and the GOAT on the cover? You surely don't mean best gameplay or most realistic, right? I don't play sports games except NBA 2K pretty much...basketball is my hobby and this game sucked balls. I remember waiting at Walmart at 10:30 P.M. and I was like 30th in line! By the time it hit 12, there were at least 150 people and probably more. The happiness was short-lived, though, because after 2-3 games with my brother and two friends, I went to sleep. Game blew...nothing at all like the demo, which played hot. Unrealistic shooting, crappy My Player, horrendous online servers, just a bad bad bad game. Almost 2K5/2K9 bad...

It was good online the very first day, though...you could actually play D and I won my first game 29-25 with Mike Conley scoring 7 points as my leader.

If he bought it online via amazon, he should.

They should do a swap, 2k gets NFL, EA gets MLB.

All would be right in the world.
