There's nothing wrong with Nvidia in general, so I don't know why you're saying that, but it's true the 590 definitely sucks. And you can make fun of my case all you like, I don't care, that stuff doesn't bug me, but what pisses me off is the bunch of comments I got earlier in this thread where you guys didn't believe me or were making fun of my "supposedly impulsive purchase" where "I didn't think it through herp derp".

The 800Ds have crappy case ventilation, but heat was never an issue with my 280, but the heat from the 590 is unacceptable. You FAIL this time Nvidia.
As long as the card is operational under the temperatures it reaches, I wouldn't exactly consider it a failure. A dual GPU card like that is going to put off tons of heat, especially since Nvidia uses dies that are so large.

You can't say "my case has bad ventilation so the fact that my GPU runs hotter than I'm comfortable with is Nvidia's fault." That just doesn't make sense... If you're running a card on air, it's not Nvidia's fault if it doesn't get the air it needs to stay cool.

With that said, I wouldn't but a 590 because of the nerfed PWM.

Also, for clarification, the 590 is dumping at least 365 watts of heat into your case. The 280 was rated at 237 watts...

My case was never this hot.
there are twice as many GPU's on this card than your 280 had...the TDP should tell you enough, its pretty much double that of your 280. I dont know why you were expecting it not to be that hot.

pre-purchase research is your friend.

probably because the 590 exhaust heat to the rear and also inside the case that why your component got hot while your gtx 280 is a reference card which exhaust heat outside the case only, right?

You should talk. This overheating junk of a video card is worth more than your entire rig.
you seem to be a bit angry and rude to people. keep it up and i'll report you.

now onto your issue. there is no issue. 400watt TDP card. Nvida states that a 110cfm fan is needed (HAF X), for it to be "FERMI READY"

What exactly do want from us? HELP you? i'm happy to help but i'm not sure what exactly you want help with.

the solution to the heat is to watercool it, or put more fans in your case.

anyway, your temps aren't even a issue.

800D is not the best air-cooling case. you need water or a new air-friendly case

I'd go down to Africa and boil people water with it.

That way you can help.

You're gonna report me? If anyone's gonna get "reported" it should be some of the guys who commented in this thread. Honestly, you guys are awesome, but this place is filled with guys who dismissive or out-right hostile themselves.

Let's run by some of the comments I've received in this very thread:

Not rude, but dismissive.

You don't believe me? Why, am I an idiot or something, that I can't tell the difference between a very hot case and a not so hot case???

Another similar comment to the one above, dismissive and inflammatory. "Dude", I don't talk like that "bro", so don't pretend that I'm an idiot.

Really, another GTX 590 troll thread? So I went out and bought a 590, took a picture of it with my name on it so I can troll the OCN forums? Really????? This is exactly the type of dissimive ******* I'm talking about on the forums, the guy that doesn't believe what I'm saying because he just has to defend the company for some reason, as if his dad owns it or he has his life savings invested in it.

I'm asking other 590 users with 800D's perhaps for their experience on this card, that's all. The last thing I needed is half the comments in this thread.

I have three gtx 470, these suckers are really hot on the stock nvidia cooler, I would never run them stock in the 800D. The HAF-X is a really nice air-cooler if you are looking into a new case or there are a few water blocks already available for the the 590. the 800D can support a 360 radiator on top or with a bit of cutting (you'd be surprised on how little there is needed to be cut ) you can slide a 480 on top. I have two 480mm radiators cooling my sig rig .

Good luck and you are very lucky to own such a awesome card btw
