i5 2500K or X6 1090T for 3D Rendering? - Page 2

A sincere thank you goes to the op for putting this in the right section. The Sandy Bridges (whichever you can afford) would be the best way to go right now.

The 2600k is pretty good if you have the money though.
I just think $100 more for hyperthreading and a slightly higher clock speed isn't worth it for gaming, but for others it will do nicely.
Did not see where he mentioned budget. Ya its funny most gaming the i5 and i7 perform equally sometimes the i5 even beats it(by like 2 fps) but still shows when it comes to gaming its a waste.

Well if his two choices were those you would assume his budget was around there.
Anyways, sandybridge is best for OP.
2500k i5 will do it.
Very nice overclocks even on air.

I'd say 2500k or wait for Bulldozer if you don't need it that fast.

my 2500k with air cooling: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1762883
5.4GHZ. Keep in mind some may not get that high, but 4.6-4.8ghz is possible.

temps under full load using the MTY tripcode program are about 68-70C with my noctua NH D14 with stock fans at 5.4ghz
