Cpu Fan/Pwr Fan

SO on the M4E there are two 4 pin fa connectors back to back labled Cpu Fan and Pwr Fan located next to the memory lanes. I am using a corsair h70 and it seems to me that while my 3 pin connectors are working fine they arent performing as well as 4 pins would?

For example my fans running on the radiator constantly run at 2000+ rpms and i feel like maybe my pump isnt pumping as hard as it could. If my fans are running at max all the time are they compensating for a ***ty block install? My temps at idle are around 34-38 degrees. I hear many people claiming low 20's at idle with the h70. Im using Xigmatek grease, it came with the pump.

For the first time in over 8 years I feel like a greenhorn. My last build was a i7 920 on a ws revolution but that build seems like child play compared to what I am trying to accomplish this go round. I have posted quit a few new threads over the past few weeks and everyone has been really helpful and patient with me so thanks to all. band.gif

Run the pump off CPU fan and the fans off PWR.

Also, note that the pump will not exceed ~1500Rpm. They're designed to push water, not air, so work differently.

On topic:

Pin #1 is ground
Pin #2 is +12V and speed control on less sophisticated systems
Pin #3 is the Sensor
Pin #4 is programmable speed control

So I have the 2 hooked up reverse from what u advised. As soon as I get home I will switch them but may I ask why? Also do I have to buy special fans and/or pump that have 4 pin connections? I tried some rediculous cable rigging connecting a 4pin molex/ 3pin adapter to my fan then a molex to 4pin to the board and it wouldn't turn on lol I tried though :-P
