Problems with lga775 setup

System specs are right except I am using an Q8400 @... Ok I just looked in CPU-z and my bus has been lowered? I never changed it.. My Q8400 was at 3.4 or something before.. Now it is at 333*8.

Did the bios reset itself?

The PC is hard to boot at the moment.. Restarts itself multiple times..

My sound driver just failed.. Then a few mins later my aero theme got turned off and I was set to the basic theme.. Then it came back on..

So yeah, pcs kinda glitchy.. i don't know why.

Any ideas?

Well, the Q8400 is not that good of an overclocker, so I am thinking that maybe it's just very unstable and has finally resulted in the BIOS getting reset.

Well my auto settings in the bios(Like when it gets reset) are no good.. They don't run properly, especially my ram.

So I am thinking the reset has caused these problems... I don't know if you are right though, because the Q8400 OC was mild IMO and It didn't give me any troubles until couple days ago... When it kept restarting when i tried to boot... I just ignored it because I am lazy.. But now there are more problems (As in first post)..

So I'll just have to set my own settings, but maybe at 3.2 instead of 3.4 ( i thought it was running 3.4 until I check cpuz while writing my first post to see a bios reset had happened.)/

That restarting was your overclock failing. Have you been in the BIOS since? It should flash a big red warning telling you that the overclock failed.

If it never gave you any problems just go back into the bios, redo the overclock, and lower FSB about 2 steps from where you had it. That should stabilize the overclock without much effort.

Hell dodgy now.... Things are getting worse.

Set the fail safe settings (Not with any "auto" settings though).. And underclocked my ram a tiny bit.. Kept the Q8400 at stock and it was soo hard to get this thing to boot still..
kept BSOD if it actually made it to windows..

I unplugged it for a few minutes with the power off and then plugged everything back in... It managed to boot.

BSOD can be memory instability. If your Q8400 is stock double check your memory timings are correct. Auto doesn't always have the correct values.

If it posts consistently I'd think the CPU is more stable, so just check memory
