Just found that describing PLL. Seems like a good description.

I am at 1.6 PLL. 429x9 is stable for me but any higher and I get error in Prime. I kind of feel like I have all my voltages high as they should ever get...Not really sure where to go from here. I guess I could try loosening memory timings.

Oh! Can the "GTL" reference be set to "Auto"? If so, can you try it?

It can be set to auto and I will try it, though I don't think that is going to help.

Well, hey - this is all about experimentation. We are literally nothing more than scientists here who are constantly experimenting to see what works and what doesn't.

Yea I understand, that is actually what I was looking for when I first posted here. Only reason I didn't expect GTL to change much is because I used to always have it on auto. I am experimenting now with 434x9 (3.9GHz) GTL on auto and a PLL of 1.64 (which is probably high, but I noticed both processor cores staying closer together in temperature - telling me that they are both running at similar frequencies)

And I do want to express that I am very grateful for overclock.net and the helpful people on it! I like my chances of success when I have a whole team that's got my back.

Looked stable in Prime (it did go up to about 69°) but crashed on the Starcraft 2 test. Shame! I won't give up though!

I have the AI Clock Twister set to 'Light' and Load Line Calibration set to 'enabled'. Is this correct? Also do I need to mess with my CPU Spread Spectrum or leave it disabled?

Could having my vcore or other voltages too high cause my games to crash or Windows to freeze?

EDIT: Ok I'm back to where I started when I realized that im not even stable at 426x9. My games would crash or stop responding.

I have Loadline Calibration and all spectrum related settings (CPU and PCI Express) disabled myself. I have my strap set to 400MHz. My Northbridge is at ~1.37xV set in the BIOS which ends up as ~1.39V. My CPU GTL is at 0.63x and the Northbridge GTL is at 0.67x. That is with an X38 chipset running 4 modules of RAM at 5-5-5-12 @800MHz @~1.9V (~1.86V set in BIOS).

My mistake. I thought it was 800MHz RAM.

I suggested him to use a looser 400MHz strap but he said it didn't help.

On my Core 2 Duo E8600 at 4GHz, my PLL is manually set to it's lowest at 1.5V in the BIOS, and after the motherboard overvoltage is factored it, I'm sitting at ~1.58V on the PLL.

I'm jumping in here kind of late, so forgive if I say anything redundant.

Have you lowered your CPU multiple and tested FSB for stability? For example if you can't run 440x6 stable in Prime Blend for 4 hours then it's time to stop looking at the CPU. Just because you have X board and X ram doesn't always mean they will work properly together, or may have a wonky limitation like my X48 that can't go past 433.

I'd hate for you to be wasting tons of time looking at the CPU only, which is what many people do. You should always find your board max before shooting for CPU max.
