$700 Build for a friend - Page 3

Why would you build on the outdated LGA1156 socket (honest question)?
Because 1156 is still good?

I'm liking the i5 2500k but I really do think a micro ITX board will suit his needs. He only needs one PCI 2.0x16 slot and I am positive he will never go SLI or need to overclock. I'm looking at this board paired with an i5 2500k:

Since that ups the CPU budget a bit I was thinking of stepping back the GPU to a GTS 450.

Nothing wrong with outdated sockets. Hell, I'm still on 775 for my computer. But now I am currently looking at 1155.

Using a dead socket is only and issue if you plan to upgrade the CPU before the mobo.

Thanks for all the help guys! Ended up going with an i5 2500k with a micro ATX gigabyte board and a GTS 450. I think it suits my friend's needs quite well. Also, because everyone seems to love the Samsung Spinpoint F3 I went with one of those as well - even though I don't think he'll ever fill up a TB of space.
