[Ars]Google: don't give private "trolls" Web censorship power - Page 4

Let's go one step further, Google. Stomp on the entire bill. It has no business on the books. It is no different than China's great firewall.

Anybody know how we can get them off the web without someone stepping in and intervening?
I'm against censorship.

Anyone know how to get people like you on the first plane to China without them noticing?

I don't mean to single you out, but isn't this just hyperbole? We aren't being out right slaughtered and openly repressed by the millions in the name of the state and we still have waaay more rights/privileges than people have/had in the obvious fascist governments that exist and existed.

I don't think we were ever some bastion of greatness or freedom, but we certainly are a lot better off than any one who's lived in an actual fascist dictatorship.

Fraud is illegal, let it be dealt with as that, not by making new legislation.

Depends on how you determine that. In a way we are, we have millions of troops over seas being killed all the time to fight useless/pointless wars all in the name of "spreading democracy". Also, we are being repressed by the "not-so federal" federal reserve and there financial terrorism they have caused by inflation and market manipulation.

Yes we do have more rights then a lot of the world but they are constantly being eroded away on a daily basis and this is one of them that would do so.

And I will have to disagree with you, we were a great country, IMO the best the world has ever seen, hence the reason why we flourished for so many years and became the greatest/richest nation in the world, it wasn't by accident.

The majority of people being killed in our excursions aren't troops, or our civilians - They are the civilians and various armed groups of other countries. I think in the context of fascism, repression is an act of violence to limit and criminalize various forms of thoughts and acts - The illegal financial schemes we've had recently do not fit the criteria for the historical repression used in fascist states. Shooting down demonstrators and torturing the ones you arrest to defend the finacial schemes would be a bit more comparable.

I don't really use the term "great" when describing states because of how they are almost always formed.

My main point was that I think it's better to use less incendiary terms to describe the situation we're in because hyperbole sometimes gets desired reactions out of people, but it also gives damaging ammunition to those who defend the status quo.

While this may be true, they can be completely avoided.

There are many cases of peaceful protesters being assaulted over vast issues in the U.S.

I don't think it's a hyperbole by any means. I'm calling it as I see it.
