What psu should I get?

Thread Starter
Hi guys just moved all my gear into my nzxt case and with all the extra fans my psu died its really struggling to start and dies shortly after, tried another old psu and everything ran fine but it doesn't have a 6 pin connecter for my graphics card. So bearing in mind I'm on a tight budget, what psu do you experts recommend? thanks,
Ps my case is all blue so if it had blue lights that would be a bonus but I'm not spending $50 extra so it looks pretty

How about a Corsair GS600 (yes, 600watt haha). It has blue fan =) But I don't know the performance of it. Corsair is a good brand, quality product, just don't know that specific model.

XFX 650 XXX is a good one I believe.

Good perfomance and very good price to perfomance ratio.

You can get the Seasonic S12II 620W. Cost less than $100.

Corsair is an excellent company to buy products from. I use their HX (Modular) PSU. Corsair can be a bit pricy, however, and you said that you were on a budget. If your graphics is not too power hungry, you could go for a Corsair CX500 (Currently on Newegg $59.99 after rebate +free shipping)

Bear in mind that the CX series IS non-modular, so any unused cables will be there in the case. They sell a cheaper CX430, but if you need a supplement 6-pin for your graphics card, I wouldn't want to go that low in the wattage. 500 will probably get you by and you will have a reputable PSU on your hands. Just don't look for any heavy-duty upgrades (no SLI attempts PLEASE!)

If the graphics card in question is the one in your signature-system log, then a 500 watt should be fine.

The Corsair TX650w seems the best out of the bunch, I tend to stay away from stuff with "Gamer" or "Gaming" on them as they usually aren't the best Quality.

MSY can be good but are cheap for reason.

+1 i can recommend the XFX power supplies. They are essentially built and designed Seasonic, but have the great warranty of XFX.

So long at the Thermaltake is on your list, get it. It has a great reputation like Corsair. It has the cosmetic blue LED that you were preferring. It is modular so your cable management will be optimal. And best of all it is Thermaltake. When you said you were on a budget, I didn't realize we were still talking in the $110s $120s

I might buy this thing for myself now.

EDIT: Even though it says it's SLI/Crossfire ready, I wouldn't try anything silly with a 550W PSU.
