Battlefield games keep crashing

Thread Starter
So iv got a problem that only seems to happen with battlefield games or mods that run on battlefield..

First it started with BF2, after a random amount of time (15-1hour) it freezes my whole computer and does nothing.. I need to hold down my power button to shut it down completely..

Then I had it on Project Reality (bf2 mod) Same crash, same thing..

I never had it on Battlefield Bad Company 2 but recently it also crashes..

I can play every other game, Crysis on Uhigh without problems for how long I want and nothing will happen..

So whats this about guys Help me out here

Edit: If this is the wrong place, please move it Thanks!

Are you using MSI Afterburner? Apparently Afterburner and PunkBuster don't go well together. I've had the exact problem you're describing. If so, I suggest deleting Afterburner and just using AMD Overdrive in CCC. Afterburner is way better, but definitely not worth the crashes. We both have a 5870, so it kinda makes sense.

If you don't know whether or not you have it, chances are you don't. If you have it, it should be located in Program Files by default, in a folder simply named "MSI Afterburner". And yes, my crashes were with BC2 only: the only Battlefield game I have installed. I believe BF2 and BC2 both use PunkBuster when playing online, which was the program causing issues with Afterburner in my case and also why I thought it might've been the same problem. Now, I'm not so sure.

Have you overclocked anything? Try downloading IntelBurnTest and start it with default settings. Should only take a few minutes. Report back with the results. Also, if it tells you that your CPU is stable before having completed all 5 runs it's still unstable.
