SLi is very powerful in any circumstance.
What does a 42" monitor have to do with anything...? A single GTX 570 can run twin 60" LCD's at 1080P or 2 1600P 30" monitors effortlessly, and game effortlessly at that res.
For example the GTX 570 is faster then a 6970 at 1200P and 1600P in Crysis 2.

http://www.techspot.com/review/379-crysis-2-performance/page4.html

The only issue is that 1280MB of VRAM has its limits at 5670 X 1080 type resolutions. If not going over 1600P however, the GTX is the best choice by far IMO with all the features the Nvidia driver set has to offer, not to mention a much more solid/reliable driver set.

You are right both sides have handpicked some results.
I apologize for that in the name of everybody:)

But you have to admit that even though some result pictures were ripped out of context with some not even considering the settings and peripheral circumstances the majority of AMD results did still feature a fair comparison in which the 6950 had the advantge.

But nonetheless also Nvidia has brought up some solid facts.
At this point there is only so much more talking can do.

As a matter of fact I stumbled across this video today and it´s amusingly impressive how it exactly describes the situation we are in right now.
"A lot of power and strength behind every arguement and fact with everbody very confidently believing in themselves and their oppinions ...but in the and we all hit nothing but the bottom xDD"

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_34DkMz4DY[/ame]

So I hope Farih will deliver some nice results and we can have some more clearance in this matter:D
Also if anyone else with a 6950 CF would like to participate feel free to do so!!
And also I would like to thank everyone that has contributed and shared their oppinions in this thread:)

I hope we can still get a nice end result here:D

Depends on your case, if it has 8 slots, then get a tri slot cooler, if it has 7, don't. But if you are dead set on dual cards, then why not a 6990 watercooled? you can get the best performance as of right now and not worry about the loud cooler, or wait for a tri fan version of the 6990.

Are you telling him to go with dual 6990s? When he wants to go with two 6950s for the price? If you're telling him to go with one 6990, he is better off with two 6970s or two unlocked 6950s.

Yeah thank you for the suggestion somebody but I don´t want to exceed the budget I gathered from selling my gtx 295 setup because I am saving for Kepler.
Also the recent Dual Card solutions are not really my cup of tea to put it nicely:)

These cards are neither a 5870 or a 480. This is what you're saying summed up: hi guys, im a fanboy. since the 480 gained more performance than the 5870 this must also be the exact same for the 6950 and the 570. Really guys, im not joking, i know this is true based on my own personal assumptions, which are indeed correct.

See how stupid it sounds? I'll say it again, until you actually have something relevant, don't waste my time.

Awesome. Now when they know they lost they are flaming the drivers. Tell me, if Nvidia drivers are so flawless, how come Dragon Age is getting a 461% performance increase? Hmm guys, this is a hard one.

http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/27/nvidia-drivers-responsible-for-nearly-30-of-vista-crashes-in-20/

No wonder my Windows was crashing with my GTX 260.

LOLGUISE, Nvidia drivers are crap because I think so. I know it.

Actually someone tested these new drivers by Nvidia where they claimed over 500% increase at those settings and it was more like half of that at those settings. Also it actually got a nice increase because it had huge bugs with that game the game to run like crap.

Also when they say up to 20% increase. That could very well mean that if you used to get 15 fps min, now you can get 20 fps min.

Hell sometimes 2 fps could be that 20%

Yeah and that´s fine:)
But like I said I sold my GTX 295 Quad setup for 720$ and I don´t want to exceed that budget because I would like to save my money for Kepler.
Also am I not impressed by the recent Dual Card solutions both Nvidia and AMD have provided us with....I won´t even go into the disadvantages right now since it does not suit the thread^^

But your monitor suggestion was good ...I am actually considering that.
I mean basically my 42" would go great with the 570 SLI ...but because the max res is 1920x1280 I could crank the AA and AF up to the maximum with the 6950 and still see 60 FPS with Vsynch:)

Pretty tough....or I could sell the 42" and get two additional 24" Acers for a 3xEyefinity setup with (vertical monitors).
Personally I think Nvidia Surround isn´t comparable to Eyefinity so a multiple monitor setup would require AMD cards to do it right.

Also I have the option of getting a second used 42" Sony Bravia from ebay...

I think AMD has the advantage here either way because of the superior amount of VRAM you can either play at lower es like 1920x1280 with max AA and AF and get great FPS ...or play at extreme res with fair AA and AF and still achieve great performance.

Don´t you think?

To be honestly we expected you to bench your $700 card, or your $1050 setup so we could compare it.

We expected you to understand why this was needed since in every benchmark on the web my lowly low end crappy last gen setup is easily able to beat it.

We actually expected someone from ATI to "man up" we thought that might be you, but it seems you're a sig warrior and don't actually have much to offer.

Stop trolling. I already told you I don't ''play'' synthetic benchmarks optmized for Nvidia. They are paying those guys to make their cards win. So who cares about the results? Only Nvidia zealots like you.

In real gaming conditions, at 2560X1600 4/8XAA, my set-up totally obliterate 580 SLI. So stop dreaming with your 2 years old cards. Synthetic benchmaks? LOL!

Go out and buy the cards and bench them. I won't spoon feed you with synthetic benchmarks results.
