We already know the what the best card is, but you're efforts won't be wasted.

So, $180 + $185 = $365

We can compare your results up against a 6970 as well, but definitely against a 6990.

Only if Levesque or anyone with a 6990 would step up to the plate to put their bench results where their mouth is.

By your admittance the best single card is definitely not a 6950, or is that what you're now claiming?

If so, run some benches to back up your words.

Yes I got two 470s for the price of one 6970, but since one was used they'll call foul on me. I have no problems taking on the $700 beast known as the 6990. I don't even have 570s, but I don't believe you'll need 570s to match or at least nip at the heels of ATIs best offerings.

I have to call ASUS today because my P67 board is b2 stepping and the first 2 dimm slots don't work so I can't run dual channel for my ram.

They've had a old AM2+ board of mine in RMA for over 6 months now, I was thinking of maybe qq'ing up a storm to the point where they keep the old AM2+ board (who wants that now) and send me a WS Revolution instead of a replacement Pro.

If that happened I might jump all over this used 470 for $165 here on OCN http://www.overclock.net/video/96972...5-shipped.html

At that point I'd have 3 470s for $530, the other option is to still try to get that board but water cool my current card which after it got up to nearly 90F yesterday while the day before it was 53F makes me think that might still be the best option to keep the heat in my room down.

I have a rs 240 now, I was going to buy a 360 rad and add another block, then loop it without a SLI bridge so the cpu and first gtx 470 go into the 360 rad, then back to the second 470, then back to the 240 rad, then to the pump.

For less than all that though I could grab another 470 off here, but yesterday it got stupid hot and we didn't have the central air serviced yet so it got pretty hot in here, let alone in my computer room. I actually switched my rad fans around and put plexiglass in the window around the rad so the heat form the cpu and gpu were being exhausted out.

Biggest concern there is if my pump will choke on the added restriction, the Danger Den blocks have the lowest flow restriction though and rads have almost none.

Then simply add up what their retail price is currently of what they can be purchased for at NewEgg.com for example.

I bet they're still cheaper than a 6990.

Not as much as forgotten but blatantly ignored.

That was a great read btw - thanks for sharing.

What Editors Discovered
Getting directly to the point, major German Tech Websites ComputerBase and PC Games Hardware (PCGH) both report that they must use the 'High' Catalyst AI texture filtering setting for AMD 6000 series GPUs instead of the default 'Quality' setting in order to provide image quality that comes close to NVIDIA's default texture filtering setting. 3DCenter.org has a similar story, as does TweakPC. The behavior was verified in many game scenarios. AMD obtains up to a 10% performance advantage by lowering their default texture filtering quality according to ComputerBase.
It's just like when they say that CUDA is useless. Obviously it's useless because they don't have it, it's such a moronic argument and statement that they make. Yet there are many people who do more with their computers then play video games, and I happen to be one of those people. So when I say that CUDA is beneficial it IS for MY needs, and for many others around here who choose Nvidia cards over AMD's.

Interesting.

Well here is 3DMark 11, 570s @ 920 on I7 @ 4.2Ghz

http://www.overclock.net/benchmarkin...l#post12653081

Look at the GPU score

And here are 2 unlocked 6950s @ 1000Mhz (Very impressive), but the CPU is a 2600k @ 5.4Ghz

Again look at the GPU score. Obviously the 6950s got a nice advantage because of the CPU, but judging by this. I would say the 6950s might have a hard time beating 2 570s. Also noticed that the 6900 series seem to have an advantage in 3Dmark 11 over the Nvidia cards

I guess we'll see when the benchmarks show up
