Well the price difference between the 2 is significant while performance is not.

I bought my Nvidia GPU mainly because of PhysX but after Mafia 2 there haven't been any games to use that feature...

From what I've seen the GTX 570 MIGHT burn if you overclock it too much. The HD6950 can be unlocked which is always great and the HD6970 is faster than GTX 570 at stock speeds. Add to this the $$$ you save and I think the ATI cards are a far better deal.

I think this thread needs to end. Far too much unecessary/stupid questions.

I have never heard of a 6950 Twin Frozr III not unlocking, hence why it most likely will unlock. But I won't guarantee such claim before more info is out. The overclockers.com thread is BS imo, no proof that he even has the card. I've got two friends with unlocked 6950 Twin Frozr III. You also seem to forget the Power Color PCS++ and your other option of buying the cheapest reference and put on an aftermarket cooler.

SLI 570 is a good way to waste money. Inferior in any way to 6950 CF and costs much more.

What more is there to know really? This thread is ridiculous, just looking at all the answers that's been given. There's nothing more to say, pick your cards and be done with it. I'm not going to answer anything else because now it's getting stupid. I advice everyone to do the same.

Thank you for your help so far but acutally you weren´t asked and don´t have to answer anything right now.
Because Anthraxinsoup was adressed:)

And yes of course a 570 is inferior to a 6950 in any possible way there is not doubt about it?
Physx is useless because no game even takes advantage out of it or even uses it.
So there actually is no valid justification why to waste money on a card inferior in any way that is more expensive.
6950 fully unlocked max overclocked in CF kills almost anything and comes close to 580 SLI level.
With the advantage of using needing much less power ...much better scaling and AA and VRAM of course.
Just an absolute supreme card.

I would go for the 6950 too, just because of the 2GB of ram since you're looking at Eyefinity, for your current screen 470s will perform about the same as the 6950s even unlocked.

You can get a 470 right now for $165 used.

http://www.overclock.net/video/969722-pny-gtx-470-165-shipped.html

As for scaling I have no problems with mine.

They scale just fine.

I think you are confusing 470 and 570?smile.gif
The screen size , resolution or any other circumstances do not influence the fact that a 6950 fully unlocked CF setup just has superior performance over a 570 SLI setup ...it does not only dominate the 570 SLI because of the higher VRAM , much better scaling, better cooling, more efficient overclocking, unlocking ability , better AA, bettter AF,more stability, much smaller price!! and of course the munufacturers individual features like the specially designed Voltage Controller, power consumption!! and so on and on just make the 6950 CF the superior card and better choice in any possible way .

There is no chance to even argue with it.
Like I said the only factor that is prefered to argue with by 570 owners is phsyx but it is useless because no game uses it.

I can understand LivingChampion defending it because he owns 570 SLI and don´t get me wrong it is a great and powerful setup but there is just no comparison considering 6950 CF.

I have gtx570 SLI, if you want any benchmarks, just let me know. Some stock benchmarks, and with a core of 820. Many people go higher, I'll work up some more benchmarks if you want. I'd like to see some benchmarks from other users if possible, with CF 6950's, unlocked or not. I did have physx on, and would probably have to turn it off and rerun the tests again. I do have a case that's not really great for air cooling, and my processor is at ~3.6ghz

I do love my setup, powerful as heck, I'm not sure a game I can't max out at my resolution. And rocks with crunching for BOINC. Getting over 1,000,000 points/day with the two cards. I imagine it would do well with folding if you did that too.

I do have to point out with the price thing, I got one card for $300 here used, and the 2nd for $275 new without rebates. So, Arguing that 570's are $100 more is not valid, but they are a bit more.

Lol just because you bought used cards does not drive the price down of a new one?^^

Now come I don´t want this thread to become a battle of which setup is more powerful.

They are both great cards and both deliver a tremendous amount of performance.
Still, don´t be mad but there really is no comparison between the two:)

.

These are facts.

Since everybody seems so confident the Twin Frozr III will unlock I will go for it if there isn´t going to be a new version of the 6950 out soon?

Also I would like to know if the Twin Frozr III is able to do the
voltage control unlock, and core clock unlock as well???

I totally understand that that's not the price of all gtx570's but currently it looks like a gtx570 can be had for $289 after rebate and the 6950 2g $235 after rebate (just a quick newegg search). The release prices aren't reflective of current costs. That's like ~100-110 difference between the dual card solution prices.

And you're saying you don't want this thread is more powerful? Lol, I must have misread the origional post's first sentence. wink.gif
Quote:
I would like to determine the most powerful gpu setup at a mid range price level.Better said the gpu setup which surpasses their single successor in SLI.
LOL I was just going to ask for some real world benchmarks to compare the two to answer the first sentence in the first post. That's all.

I don't even expect the gtx570's to win, I would personally just like to see some stock/overclocked benchmarks done here on OCN. That's all.
