Phenom II x2 555 unlock - Page 5

Now that's a good speed there. I hit 4.2 on my 555BE as a dual, and 4Ghz as a quad. But all chips differ, some will not unlock well at all, others will run like speed demons as duals and suck as quads, and a few will be more or less full featured 955s with a different sticker on.

run prime on your 'stable' 4.32 and watch die...
overclocking is a long term, careful testing to get a stable machine, not a mad slash and burn more POWAH exercise.

No... I've done a 4 hour stability test under full load with this clock. It is stable.

it seems like excessive testing but small errors over and over ruin your os...or games
look at the 2 links i put up as they are very good.

Try Intel Burn Test or LinX use all or max memory (3gb or so) and do 20 runs. If you can pass that, it is stable enough for most people. Prime95 does not run as hot as IBT/LinX (about 3-5°C less) and takes longer.

I'd also suggest to stop using AMD Overdrive, it's a great tool to start learning how to overclock, but it's very bad for stability testing. With a bad overclock, I can pass AOD stability testing for hours at a time but fail Prime95/IBT/LinX in a matter of seconds.

If you fail IBT/LinX, lower your CPU clocks. Best way is to increase as high as you can from stock voltage and go up in voltage when you fail tests with your highest overclock. As others have mentioned, overclocking takes days or even weeks to finalize.

If everything else keeps failing, it's possible that your board is purposely using a faulty core when it unlocks. My buddy's Asus M4A79XTD Evo would always end up using his Core1 (faulty core) when he tried to unlock, and he could not disable it, so he could only use a dual core, while I could get it to work as a tri-core(Core1 disabled) on my MSI 790FX-GD70.

i did think of IBT but i have concerns as to whether the op is monitoring his temps......i run OCCT for quick testing then prime for extended periods
