.. And why don't we start with you?.. I hate the thought of "thinning people down".. Who does this planet belong to? Nobody, so nobody should be deciding who lives and dies..

Lol. Whether true or not, its scary.

Bacteria becomes resistant to drugs because they are CONSTANTLY using and abusing antibiotics. They had articles about salmon farms in south america and such using HUNDREDS of antibiotics at one time to keep the fish farm under control.

Anyway, just because its drug resistant does not mean the body cannot overcome the bacteria. This is why people get sick when they go to other countries and eat food. Once your body has built up a level of resistance, you will not have a problem with this. (or it will be minimized at least)

I find this article to be sensationalist. The bacteria contain a beta-lactamase. This makes them resistant to beta-lactam drugs like penicillin and its derivatives. This does not make it resistant to all antibiotics. There are plenty of antibiotics that work in completely independent methods to beta-lactams. beta-lactams are simply our first choice since they work so well.

I should know, my current PhD project in microbiology involves beta-lactamases...

And following that thought to the next logical step... the people who have been exposed to "superbugs" have built up antibodies against them. Those antibodies can be analyzed and used to create the next generation of anti-bacterial medicines.
