NOOB Help- Will this card work in my computer

Thread Starter
I am thinking about buying a MSI ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics card. My power supply is only 300 watts and I really do not want to upgrade that yet.

My real concern is my motherboard. Here is a link to it:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...ct=3440615#N79

Will it fit? Also, does it matter that the motherboard is 1.0, not 2.0 X16 slot.

Any helpful posts will be a life saver. Thanks.

Thanks, Do you think I can put a slightly better card in, or is this card a good bet?

a slightly better card that is also low power is the geforce 9800GT green/eco edition, but the 4670 is a good choice for gaming with 19" or smaller monitor.

PCI-E is backwards compatible so it doesnt matter if your motherboard is 1.0 or 2.0

It will, PCIe is backwards compatible. If it fits it should work.

It does not matter if the card is PCI-E 1.0 / PCI-E 2.0 / PCI-E 2.1

as long as you're buying a PCI-E card on a x16 slot (that you're motherboard has)

Honnest to be i wouldn't put that card on that PSU.

On the official site it says that card requires a PSU of at least 400W.

My neighbour has the same card and has a PSU of 450W

It'll most likely work, even though it might be by a tiny margin. Also, I may also go ahead and recommend the 9600 eco.

Thanks for all the help guys. I decided to buy a HIS ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics card. From all the reviews, others with 300watts worked well.

Now can can thoroughly enjoy Starcraft 2.
