[END] Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 Getting Gingerbread Mid-April - Page 2

I've been switching between Darky's rom, cognition, and firefly over the past few months trying to pick one. Darky's has the best battery life by far (can go 3 nights, 2 days without charging with moderate use), cognition is the most stable, but I have to charge once a day...and Firefly is the fastest, but I have to make sure my phone is 100% every morning before I leave or it will be dead before 9pm...

I really hope Samsung drops GB on the non-international galaxy s phones..but I'm not going to hold my breath.

First, CM7 is pretty damn stable. It has restarted on me at random twice..

Notice I said restarted.. it didn't turn off and stay off like some do (some, NON flashed, Unmodded capts)

Second, any "bugs" I have noticed are minor and infrequent to the point that I could probably pass my captivate off as a regular captivate if they didn't throw the CM logo on boot and in the display stats section.

Third, make back ups.. your still under manufacturer warranty. I hard bricked mine and got a new one.

They can't tell it was flashed if it doesn't turn on at all. There is a local store which deals just with warranties.

Then again if its not worth the work thats cool and I understand.. just throwing options out there.

Third, make back ups.. your still under manufacturer warranty. I hard bricked mine and got a new one. I do make backups, but FYI I like in Hong Kong not in the states, so I'm assuming my warranty is null and void unless I want to fork out $ each time to ship to the states

Nice upgrade though I suppose.
You completely missed the point. Your £100 droid phone does not have gingerbread in any official way. The Galaxy S has unofficial gingerbread as well. That's not the point.

I have had 0 issues with bugs or battery on gingerbread. I can usually get from 7am to 11pm on one charge, and haven't run into any real bugs either.

I get better battery life with CM7 than stock..

I can get 4 hours of constant use out of (screen constantly on 3g disabled, wifi toggled on and off) it over the course of 12 hours.

With only one hour of the screen being on I've gotten over 24 hours idle time..

Also there are no at&t at all in hong kong? no way at all to redeem warranty there?

Its next to impossible to brick a galaxy s. With odin you can always return back to stock and start all over. CM7 is amazing on this phone however GPS is still broken and I travel to much to give up that important feature.

I hope like someone else said that with this news, the CM7 devs will get the sources soon so they can fix the last few major bugs...then when that's done, MIUI can get the fixes and then I'll be happy.

All hail MIUI!

I guess I'll give it a try after I get some questions answered

Doesn't using odin to recovery from a bad cm7 flash brick the phone?
