yea I baked a 8600GT 1GB and it fixed it. This is because of the ROHS standard, HATE IT WITH ALL YOUR BEING!

ROHS, DIE!

More specifically because the ROHS standard removes lead from solder. sad.

Indeed, baking is a temporary fix, it can last for a few months, or a few days. After a few heat cycles (IE run hot then cool etc) the solder will begin to give up again, and a few bakes will start to kill other parts, like capacitors.
Congrats on making it work again, but do start saving and looking for bargains. There's the odd 450 and 460 showing up on here for around the $100 figure, also look at used 5770 or higher.

Any decent company will do the RMA.
I work at a computer repair shop and more than ever companies are going out of their way to deny warranty claims. You have to dance a very careful dance to make sure you get approved and get appropriate replacement parts with some of the big guys now days.

Stop being so cheap.

Load up with quad SLI 580s. It's well worth it. I don't care if you have to take up a loan, just do it.

Jokes aside, definitely go for the 460.
