Windows won't install on my Intel 160gb g2 SSD!

Thread Starter
Ok so I got a 160GB intel g2 hardrive yesterday. After researching all night I got about slimming down my current OS partition. I started up the computer with the SSD in it, booted off of a cd with intel's flashing tool, and flashed the Firmware to the latest version.

I restarted the computer and inspected the drive with intel's solid state toolbox from windows. From here I secure erased the SSD (it was used). After this I made a system image via windows onto a separate hard drive because I was planning on loading this image onto the SSD after installing windows on it.

I turn off my computer and unplug all hard drives except the SDD. After I turn it on I set it to AHCI mode, to boot off of CD, and I put the Windows 7 64 Pro DVD in the drive. Now here is where everything does terribly wrong.

I select the empty partition to install windows on , and 3/4 the way through installation the screen goes black, 2 minutes later my computer restarts, boots to the loading windows screen, and then goes black again. Great, the installation didn't work, what could have happened?

I try to repair the installation to no avail. I try to install windows again, exact same problem happens.

I set the BIOS back to IDE, instead of AHCI, and THEN try installing windows, to no avail. I manually load intel's latest storage drivers before installing, on both IDE, AND AHCI settings's and I still can not get windows to install.

At this point I say screw it, and plug my other hard drives back in and boot up (in IDEmode). So what do I do now? I've double checked the SSD and it seems fine. Why does windows black out when I try to install it on the SSD?

Help!

Windows 7 64 bit can run on as low as 2 GB of ram.

Firstly are you sure your windows in genuine?

things to try:

remove all none neccessary appliances, i.e mouse from back of pc.
Set bios to AHCE mode before installing windows.
Ensure the SSD is completely empty, then install to a new partition.

My ssd's also had trouble first couple times trying to install windows on, but that was ssd in raid, so...i dunno mebbe there just iffy.

Keep trying to install it

Do you have it plugged into a regular sata port?

Regular sata port not a Jmicron one. I'm going to try loading an image instead of installing. We'll see what happens I guess...

So I can't load an image onto the SSD, i get an error 0x80042406 "A data disk is currently set as active in the BOIS, set some other disk as active or use the disk part utility to clean the data disk, and then try the restore operation." I also got another error that said that the destination disk was too small for the restore operation, but the image is only 68 GB while my disk is 150.

I've run the clean command, and all the jazz and it didn't do a darn thing.

This is insane, I thought windows 7 made stuff easy!

Did you try to do a repair install? that might work
Use the 7 disk, or even better if you have a repair disk, and just point it to your old HDD
