Is there any difference in performance? The motherboard is ASUS M4A87TD/USB3 and it supports dual channel and up to 16gb RAM.

well they are both dual channel if they are in sets of to the main difference between them mostly being that 8gb or ram will be more usefull for video editing that 4gb of ram

Should be no problem. Just make sure that the timings are the same as well as the speed and the 2x4gb will be as fast as 4x2gb. Also, you will have the ability to add more ram to max out the 16gb rather than the 8gb with 2gb sticks

Sorry lol I wrote the question wrong XD I meant to say 2x4gb or 4x2gb But I don't think I need 8gb if 4's enough for gaming. Ty all
post #5 of 11
4gb of ram is enough for most games. Do you play more then 1 game at a time?

No one at a time but I do have stuff running at the same time as the game.
Does the stuff actually use more than 4GB?
I went to 8GB for video editing, even then I don't go over 8GB
post #8 of 11
With 2x2gb, I was unable to switch between tasks while running BC2, since I added another 2x2gb kit, I can switch from BC2 to OCN

Personally, I would run 2x4gb if you can!
2x4gb is the better option. Less stress on the IMC. And you get upgradeability.

I don't think anybody runs Adobe Photoshop CS5 at the same time they game do they?
