[XB] Core i7-990X Extreme Edition vs. Core i7-2600K - Page 4

Same here, The 1100T looks to be seriously lacking in game performance compared to the other processors.....then again, they're either newer or cost 1000 bucks. I, for one, would really like to see the performance of AMD chips with northbridge overclocks as well to see what kind of gains we would get from that. I'm thinking the NB clock frequency is what's holding the chip back in this review on some parts.
Ummm....

As someone else said, reviewers never OC the NB,which gives a huge performance boost to the Thuban X6,as well as other AMD CPU's.

Low IPC. Starcraft is heavily dependent on one of its threads. Bottleneck that thread and you bottleneck the game. More cores won't help you.

An overclocked 990x would be nice if you got paid to do video related stuff all day and night long, but otherwise the 2500k and 2600k are the best processors around.

Kind of tempted to upgrade now, but I'm waiting to see if bulldozer forces prices down.

Extreme edition proc. are meant for people to whom money is no object, but anyways, yeah.
Decently overclocked 920s (US$300) also stand toe to toe with 975s (US$900) at similar clocks, so the op comparison is made more significant by the money involved but nevertheless it is pointless, as only a complete fool would buy a Extreme Ed. processor (no matter the generation) if performance/money is important.

Just saying.
I'm so surprised to see your system will actually be up to date.

What are the other things ?

Stock vs stock, i7 960 performed worse in only two benchmarks (and the difference was very very small in one of those two benchmarks)

i7 960 was overall an easy winner against 1100T
