Thanks.
if you want to wait till Q1 next year for ivy then go ahead lol

I am currently at the same situation, wondering what to do.. My recommendation is: if your current build is just OK and everything you play runs without any trouble, then Id suggest you to wait for Ivy Bridge.. There is just no reason to upgrade if you are satisfied with your current build.. just wait for IB and anyways the prices will get lower..

What improvements? Q6600 was 2 Conroe dies suck on one package. Same cache, die size...same everything.

Damn those SB processors are fast. Intel may have shot themselves in the foot -- enthusiasts holding out for an Ivy Bridge processor are for sure holding fast in anticipation that the new IB chip is gonna blow the SB chip out of the water.

Can't wait to see what's gonna happen, it's going to be insane!

My only reason for upgrading is literally so I can broadcast at a higher resolution (720p, instead of 360p) I seem to get pretty low FPS in Counter Strike: Source as well, which I can't understand, so I'm guessing it's my CPU having some trouble. :/

I might just get a C2Q, as that can handle what I want done and would tide me over until I decide to get an i7 later. Hmm...
