GTX570 Toast?

Thread Starter
Been running my SB rig for 3 months now, i7 2600k, UD7, eVGA 570, 8gigs corsair ram.

I have yet to have the time to OC so everything is sitting at stock. Cooling is not a problem, the highest the card reached was 150F(at stock).

About 2-3 days ago, it gave me a small freeze up and stutter while playing HoN. Ever since, there's screen tearing in every game I play.

In LoL there's a line drawn between my champion and each minion between their heads and the enemy camp.

In HoN the light reflection in any liquid (the well, the helbourne pit, the river) is just ******* up big time.

I can post screnies if need be, just didn't take any.

I did also run Unigine, didn't let it finish, but there was tearing there as well, along with some random flashes of red which I have no idea what they are.

Any ideas on whats the next step? I've re-installed the newer drivers but its still there.

Random flashing of red might mean the card is now giving artifacts.
Could be the memory of the card, or the GPU itself.

Any chance you can test it in another computer?

From what I understand from your post, could be that the card is on its way to "card heaven" and you might have to RMA.

I can try using it on a mate's PC. I'll do that later this afternoon.

Oh well, if the card's going to heaven, then I'll just ship the mobo and card to oc.uk for replacement and RMA on both... I was planning on replacing the board because its the "broken" version but I'm kinda pissed on the fact that I'll have to RMA the card too, with it taking 2-3 weeks (leaving me cardless for the time :/)

Also, how on earth did a brand new 570, with no OC, EVER, died only after 3 months of usage?

570s and 590s are known to have VRM issues. Sounds like you got unlucky

It does sound like it's artifacting, but screenshots would help.

Thats not a very good guess? Unless its h2o, 65c is not very hot. If you ran Heaven2.5benchmark. And your not h2o. It was hotter than 65c. Doesn't matter.

Screen tearing is the first sign the games graphic settings, are set too high!
In most cases the FPS will be low as well. Some games can get away with turning on vsync.
That will also lock the FPS @60 in some games that sucks like HAWX, or BFBC2. Where the action is fast you will see lag, that is no good on a first person!
If you registered it? Evga will replace it. You may be in good shape. EVGA is the best!
That is all I buy. Just for that reason.

I'm saying that the maximum I saw it in Rift was 65C. Keep in mind I have 8 fans blowing away at my card, with 6 of them being just for airflow.

Also , yes the card is registered. But what am I looking at as a replacement time period? 2 weeks?

The thing with max setting games. Its HoN. It isn't even stressing the card at all when its on max. LoL either, its not that GPU heavy, certainly not enough to force a 570 to its knees.

Here's a "tearing" example that I see in-game

This is LoL, and its just after I started the game. It just goes downhill. Last night after 1 hour of gaming, I had tearing like that on every minion, champion and tower

Are you on the new LoL launcher? My cousin had this problem until he updated his launcher.
I have no idea about the HoN problem though.

I'll give you a link to the new launcher in a minute.

Try this
Click on Download the Migrator. Tell me if it fixes the problem, if not you may have a bad card. Worth a shot though because my cousin had the exact problem.

Was the card overclocked when you had those red flashes in the benchmark? Could be an unstable overclock.
