nvidia vs ati..... AGAIN!!!

Thread Starter
hey guys,.. newb here!!! i was about to order my new build, i saw that the website that i am buying from, now has gtx 590 in stock.....
and i am buying 3 monitors and use them in eyefinity....
so i was wondering if nvidia has their own technology like ati has eyefinity....
if yes, should i buy 2 x hd 6970 (XFire) or buy a gtx 590 now and sli it later on the track.....
questions
is the gtx 590 single or dual gpu solution?
and can i use one power supply to power my gpu's and another one to power everything else?
thanks guys..... please reply soon...

590 is dual gpu and yes it has nVidia surround, I would go with the 6970s or a 6990 for 3 monitor though since they have more ram and are just faster. You have a 1200w psu, that will be more than enough for your entire rig.

still.... i am just curious to know..... can i use more than one psu on 1 build?
but both cards are similarly priced http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...ducts_id=16889
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...ducts_id=17022
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...ducts_id=16312
how come the 2 6970s are a 100 bucks less but are better than 590.... i dont get this!!!
you need 2 nvidia cards to use nvidia surround (like ati's eyefinity), but since the 590 is a dual card, it can run surround out of the box (correct me if I'm wrong).

But just like nagle said, i think it would be better buying ati cards. they're cooler (temperature) too.

edit: use the search function to search for the multiple psu guide. or just go to the power supply section.

as to why ati cards are $100 cheaper, that's just the way it is.

I would shy away from the 590 right now until they sort out their VRM issues. This should be settled when non-reference cards come out in the future. 2x GTX 580s or 2x 6970s should be fantastic for what you're trying to do. you should also consider the 6990 as it's just two 6970 GPUs on one card.

You can definitely use multiple psus on one build, but I'm not exactly sure how to implement it. Heck, they used to sell auxiliary power supplies to supply power to the graphics card alone.
Ummm....
