nvidia vs ati..... AGAIN!!! - Page 2

Also consider a pair of 570s or 560ti cards in SLI for multi display setups. I agree, avoid the 590, it's an oddly poor design from Nvidia, very out of sorts for them.
For eyefinity on AMD/ATi cards, at least one of your displays needs to run displayport, or use an active displayport adapter. This can push the cost up significantly, so the cost difference isn't so great as it may look initially. I will say that despite ATi's other driver woes, Eyefinity is very well implemented, as far as I've seen. Quite probably better that Nvidia's surround. AMD/ATi's hardware has always rocked and it's priced very well, it's only drivers that let them down.
If you can find a decent set of ATi drivers that works for you, get them, keep them, and guard them with dogs, sentry towers and machine gun nests, and they will blow your mind in Eyefinity mode. Just don't let anything update them.

TL;DR: Nvidia surround needs 2 cards, ATI Eyefinity needs expensive adapters or expensive displayport screens. Eyefinity is better than surround, but the rest of AMD/ATi drivers as trustworthy as a politician on the make.

Edit:
Still TL;DR? AMD hardware better, especially for 3 screen setups, drivers still an issue.

so i was wondering if nvidia has their own technology like ati has eyefinity....
if yes, should i buy 2 x hd 6970 (XFire) or buy a gtx 590 now and sli it later on the track.....
questions
is the gtx 590 single or dual gpu solution?
and can i use one power supply to power my gpu's and another one to power everything else?
thanks guys..... please reply soon...
gtx590 is a dual gpu card,
its a 2x gtx580 card,but massively underclocked,
get
2x hd6970 crossfire
or
2x gtx580 sli
2x hd6970 is a better buy than 2x gtx580 because they both perform more or less same,
2x hd6970 costs $660
2x gtx580 costs $1000

I would recommend a 6990 + 6970 Trifire configuration before a 580 sli, why pay the same for way less performance?

Two post that surprised me here. "Went to nvidia cuz AMD drivers were not working right." I never had a problem with any ATI/AMD drivers, the only drivers that ever failed on me were Nvidia with a GTX 460. And, dont get XFX. Never had a problem with XFX and they have double lifetime warranty. Guess to each his own.

I always find XFX hard to overclock, and they have a bad habit of not accepting RMA's.

Cant help but remember all the problems people had with crossfire and eyefinity.

Still,i would also avoid the GTX590 at the moment,at least until there are non-ref versions available.

Seems from reading there are quite a few issues with this beast due to heat and sounds like these are suffering the same as the 570 did in terms of weak VRM and not being able to push much extra voltage.

Id take a 6990 without doubt in this case, lucky person
