really slow game minimizing

Hi guys,
I have had this problem for quite some time now:
Whenever I try to minimize a game (any game, not just RAM-thirsty ones) it takes like 3 minutes. seriously.
However, after a reboot, it works fine for a few hours before it goes crazy slow like that.

Its not the hardware since the problem just started about a month ago.
I have 6GB of DDR3 RAM, HD5870 and an i7 920 processor.

I tried tons of stuff - uninstalling my avira antivirus, stopping services, cleaning registry.
WTH could it be?!

You should find a way to monitor your RAM usage. At 6GB there's no reason for this to happen unless some app (or a driver, or a corrupted OS service, or malware) fills up memory and forces the game into the pagefile. Aside from monitoring RAM usage you could disable pagefile and see what happens - this way if the RAM fills you'll know because the game would crash (you can always re-enable pagefile).
In case nothing else works reasonable well you should reinstall Win. When it becomes bloated enough it will load all kinds of crap in the memory and the rig would just feel slow.

Reinstalling windows is a big hassle...
its not the RAM. It gets to 50% usage tops and disabling the pagefile didn't cause any issues or crashes.
My computer is completely clean of viruses and malware as Spybot, MalwareBytes, Avira, and MS SE would indiciate.
WTH could it be?
whats weird is that after a reboot everything works like it should and some time after that every launch of a game and tabbing out of it takes FOREVER.

Going from Assassin's creed Brotherhood to my desktop with a spinpoint f3 : 5 seconds.
Going from Assassin's creed Brotherhood to my desktop with ac300 : instant.

Your hard drive must be having hard time.

I have a feeling it's just the terrible ATI drivers causing the 99% GPU usage bug. This happens to me on occasion and makes starting up games, minimizing games, locking PC etc take much longer than it should.

Whip open MSI Afterburner and check your GPU usage whenever you have this problem. Unfortunately the only way to fix it is by restarting your pc or forcing your graphics card to have a VPU recovery by for example, deliberately making an unstable overclock and then running furmark.

@OverTheBelow, makes sense. I'll try and see what happens.
So even if it is the problem, there's not much I can do about it, is there?
